Hi all. It's a Saturday and I've decided to dedicate it to complete the assignments I've piled up since missing school for a week. It's evening now and... you guessed it. I have nothing done yet. But whatever. I'm here to blog about my eventful vacation to Cancun!
You may ask, why did I name the Cancun trip a vacation? Aren't I already on a 4 month-long vacation?
Well... No.
I'm still leading a normal routine life, with school, homework, outings. Only in a faraway land with no family. Hahahaha. So it's not a vacation.
Okay, getting back on track, the vacation to Cancun spanned over 7 days (have to make the expensive air tickets worth it). We stayed in an all-inclusive resort (read allyoucaneatanddrink) for the first couple of days and it was the best damn thing.
Day 1
We reached in the evening, had their awesome international buffet (& a single tequila shot) and went back to the room to chill & watch ABC channel. Shark tank and Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Day 2
Day 3
Headed over to the beach and poolside! Chilled for most part of the day just chatting and enjoying life. Helped to dig up some freshly hatched sea turtles! It was indeed a defining moment for me, shifting the sand away and watch the little ones seeing light for the first time, while frantically flipping their little flippers. Helped almost 100 of them surface from the sand. :D Dinner with more tequila shots and cocktails again (yay to cheap alcohol!) and headed downtown to the pub! It was just crazy fun, going up the stage and dancing YMCA hahha. Returned to the hotel at three in the morning and had a good rest.
Day 4
Went to another island Isla Mujeres (read Girls Island) for some snorkeling in the super clear waters! Haha it was great fun to swim with fishes! Went back to the hotel to snack on finger food and retired to our rooms for a good bathe and short sleep. Went down for a fine-dining dinner where we had to dress up and it was all in good fun!
Day 5
Went to visit the Tulum pyramids and beaches over at Playa Del Carmen! The sky was so pretty that anything contrasting to it look so good! Had a super good lunch of pork tacos. Mmmmmm yummy! Chilled at another beach before taking a night bus back to our hotel.
Day 6
It's time to visit Chichen Itza, the home of the Mayan pyramids! Remember all the talk about the Maya calendar ending in 2012 this year so we're all gonna die soon? Yeah that Maya population. Well, to clarify things, apparently a Mayan cycle lasts for 52 years and 2012 is the defining year for the end of our current cycle. This does not mean that the world is gonna end. It just mean a new beginning of a brand new cycle! The Mayan population didn't survive long enough to make the other calendars of other new cycles so it kinda ends here. Before our pyramid trip, we paid a visit to a Cenote. Its an underground lake which is just really pretty! Water's really freezing but we went in anyway. Once in a lifetime experience! Ended our day with KFC delivery hehehe.
Day 7
Went downtown for some shopping and souvenir sourcing. Rachel and me buy a souvenir from every single one of our mini-trips with the name of the place engraved on it. I will soon be posting the pictures of them all! Maybe after I return to Singapore. Hehehe. Late Mac's breakkie and headed to the airport for our return to Queretaro.
Fin.
