Damn. This is like the best and only book I'd promote. Its super duper and horrifically a beautiful book. No, not the cover art. The story. If any chance you'd get to read it, please do!
But its about ancient Japan, Edo (Tokyo). Before cilvilisation and foreign influence in Japan, where everything is super peaceful and strict.
The story is based on the Shogun's concubine, Sachi, whom was brought up as a peasant but realised that her birth mother was a Shogun's councubine as well. Then she embarked on a journey to rediscover her hidden and rich past.
I loved it because, well, its full of greatness. XD
Like literally. Beautiful, silken summer kimonos with scenery embroidery, golden palanquins blah blah...
